What is teenage really?

When someone says teenager what is the first thing that comes to your mind?

Anger?

Mood swings?

Hormonal?

Lost?

Identity-seeking?

There is no limit to words we can use to describe a teenager. But do they really hold good in real life or are they just stereotypical words often associated with a teenager?

Well there is no accurate way to define a teenager. Oxford definition of a teenager is a a person aged between 13-19 years of age. But what does that tell us ? Pretty much nothing.

To understand what goes through the mind of a teenager is like mastering the art of understanding women which is impossible. But if we use one word to describe them will 'discovering oneself' be appropriate? I guess so.

Teenage is basically grooming a child to become a sensible adult. It's the phase everyone goes through where they first time face real life situations and understand how to tackle them. All the firsts of life are experienced during this time be it the first failure, first meaningful friendship or the first heartbreak.

Such complexities make the mind of a teenage even more complex to interpret. They may have doubts, frustration, anger issues or meltdowns but it's okay it's completely normal, everyone has been through it. The main issue is that though it's normal but it's necessary for us to know how to handle it - how to balance life.

Discovering oneself doesn't always mean finding hobbies that you like or which genre of movies appeals you the most but it also means how to act in tough situations, how does your decision making process help the situation or in simple words how you live life.

This brings us to the two paths which one comes across during this time.

The right path and the easier path

which one to choose ? Second one seems pretty easy so why not?

Wrong.

This laziness is the key difference that distinguishes a successful person from a potential person. A potential person may have all the abilities and skills required to master a task but with the wrong path where does it take him? nowhere

Teenage is the time when we choose the paths that defines us as a person.

Summarizing it in a line I can say teenage is about exploring the world unseen, discover one as an individual and generating into a good citizen. Maturing not only physically but mentally and emotionally too.

It may be impossible to understand a teenager but showing the right path and supporting are always helpful in showing the silver lining.
